  We recently moved back to north Idaho and have yet to decide on a vet. Unfortunately, we are still looking after our brief but very unpleasant experience with Prairie Animal Hospital. A family member recommended going to Prairie after fleas were discovered on our pup (and theirs as well). The receptionist we spoke with asked for the weight of our pets and told us to "not be surprised" by the cost of the medication ($120, by the way). We were also told that all of the medication cost the same. I'm not sure whether this was a hint that they had different brands or a complete lie about their medication pricing. Well, after speaking with our family who had purchased flea medication earlier that day we discovered that we had not only paid 4 times more than they had but that we should have had a few options: 1 month versus 3 month as well as different brands (and different prices). None of this was mentioned when we purchased our medication and it should be understood that we feel taken advantage of. After calling to express our disappointment at lack of choice in medication, we were essentially told it was too late to do anything since our pets had already taken it; no apology for lack of communication or any responsibility taken on their part for lack of customer service. Your front desk people should be ashamed at the service that they ultimately fail to provide to distressed pet owners. As the first and last face that people see at your vet, their rude manner and inability to provide help is beyond disappointing. I'm not sure what kind of service we would receive if it had been a real emergency but purchasing flea medication should not be an opportunity to fleece people for money. We will not be returning or recommending your facility.

  We have been bringing our pets here for more than 20 years now. They are always friendly and helpful. The are often busy but seem to always make time. They are open 7 days a week now.

  The vets and the office staff are very nice here. After having to put my old cat down they sent me a nice condolence card, and they planted a tree in his honor. I thought that was wonderful.
